Covid-19: FG Releases N6.45 Billion For New Oxygen Plants In 38 Locations Nationwide

The Federal Government has approved N6.45 billion for the setting up of gas plants in 38 locations nationwide, in addition to the N255million released to five tertiary hospitals for oxygen plants repairs, in a bid to enhance the treatment of Covid-19 patients who need oxygen.

 

 

Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, who stated this while briefing State House correspondents after Thursday’s 1st virtual meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed gave details of the releases for the production of oxygen, which has been necessitated by the increased number of covid-19 patients who need oxygen.

 

Governor OKOWA also disclosed that the Minister of Health Minister Dr. Osagie Ehanire informed the Council about vaccine provisions for the country and that sequel to the activation of the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund based on the National Health Act, the Federal Government has allocated N35billion for 2021 for the Fund to be released to all states and FCT. Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Council reiterated that there are no plans to lockdown the country again, urging citizens to abide by all health protocols.

 

Other updates at the NEC meeting include account balances as at 20th January, 2020 given by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, as follows: Excess Crude Account (ECA), balance as at 20th January, 2021, $72million; Stabilization Account, balance as at 19th January, 2021, N28billion; Natural Resources Development Fund Account, balance as at 19th January 2021, N95billion.
