Kidnappers Demand N20m to Release Anglican Communion scribe’s wife
Abductors of Ebunoluwa, the wife of Venerable Ayodeji Fagbemi, General Secretary, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, are reportedly demanding N20 million ransom. Ebunoluwa was kidnapped, Monday night, by gunmen at their Oba-Ile residence in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Venerable Fagbemi is the immediate past Provost of Bishop Vining College of Theology, Akure, before his new appointment this year, police said that the kidnappers contacted the family yesterday, demanding for a ransom for her release. Husband of the victim, Venerable Fagbemi, confirmed that the kidnappers have made contact with the family, adding ”they demanded N20 million, which I don’t think anybody can afford. But at the moment we are really praying.”
Contacted, the police image maker, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said a thorough investigation on the abduction had commenced. Joseph said: “Our men have already begun the search for the woman, but you know we cannot disclose the method we are using to the media now, but we shall surely ensure the release of the victim very soon."
