LASG Pledges To Engage Stakeholders Before Taking Decision On Okada & Marwa Menace

Lagos state Government is set to step up enforcement of the Lagos State Traffic Law as well as intensify its sensitization campaign for Okada and Tricycle Riders, popularly called 'Keke Marwa'.

Briefing State House Correspondents, after Monday's Security Council Meeting held at the Lagos House, Ikeja; the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso noted that in the spirit of democracy, government will consider concerns of different stakeholders, engage them more, before a definite pronouncement is made.

Omotoso also reiterated the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's administration to ensure the safety and security of lives and property of residents. It will be recalled that the state government recently announced plans to halt the abuse of traffic laws by Motorcycle and Tricycle riders, saying the menace can no longer be condoned.

Our Correspondent Immanuel Odeyemi reports that prior to today’s meeting, there was palpable tension around Alausa as there were rumors that the state government could make a landmark policy statement concerning the activities of the motorcycle and tricycle riders.
