NIDCOM Chairman Calls For Multi-Agency Approach To Tackle Human Trafficking

Chairman and CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa has called for a multi-agency approach to tackling the alarming rate of human trafficking.

Mrs Dabiri-Erewa made the call Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while giving an update on Miss Omolara Ajayi, who was rescued from traffickers in Lebanon. She commended the Nigerian High Commission in Beirut for facilitating her freedom, adding that Omolara will soon return to Nigeria.

Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa said her commission will work with the National Assembly to strengthen Labour Migration Laws so as to regulate the terms and conditions for Nigerians seeking to work outside the country. She used the occasion to condemn the stabbing of a South African Police by a Nigerian, adding that the law should take its course.

Our State House Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa also commended the current harmonious relationship between Nigeria and South Africans.
