Nigerian Youths Charged To Actively Engage In Leadership Development

Nigerian youths have been charged to be actively involved in the policy and leadership development in the country ahead of the forthcoming elections in 2019. Speaking at the British Council’s Future Leaders Connect media meet, the Head of Communication, BC, Edemekong Uyoh said there is need to tailor the mindset of youths towards initiating, influencing and enhancing policies globally.

Also speaking, some of the winners of the future leaders connect, Liman Hauwa and Olaoluwa Abagun in an interview with our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan noted that every citizen should have a level playing ground regardless of gender, tribe or political divides.

Hauwa Liman pointed that Nigeria lacks accurate data to indicate the current rate of unemployment, hence formulating inadequate policies to address it. Similarly, Abagun called for more women participation in politics and governance to address the wide gap.

Our correspondent reports that the British Council’s Future Leaders Connect global programme is aimed at supporting exceptional young people in properly shaping and enhancing policies for key issues that matter to them and their community.
