Pres Buhari Renames Abuja National Stadium After Late MKO Abiola

President Muhammadu Buhari has renamed the Abuja national stadium after late MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12, 1993 election. President Buhari who made the declaration while delivering his speech at Eagle Square, Abuja, during the Inaugural June 12th Democracy Day celebrations said the immortalization is in recognition of the enormous role of late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (GCFR) in the political hemisphere.

 

Speaking further, President Muhammadu Buhari promised that the APC government will take 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years. He said his administration would ensure rapid and positive growth in the economy to move Nigeria away from poverty adding that his administration will undertake policies to improve the country's GDP growth by 2.7 per cent this year.

 

He further urged state governments and private sectors to work with the Federal Government in Developing the country while assuring of his commitment to address the issue of insecurity and corruption. President Buhari reiterated that his administration has laid a foundation and is taking a bold step in transforming the country by delivering Nigerians from the shackles of poverty.
