Presidency Appeals to NASS To Pass 2019 Budget Soon

The Presidency has appealed to the National Assembly particularly the Senate to prioritise passage of the 2019 Budget, Medium Term Expenditure Framework(MTEF) and New Minimum Wage Bill.

Addressing the Senate Press Corps in Abuja Friday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Ita Enang, also called on the 8th Senate to pass budgets of about 64 revenue generating agencies pending before it as well as confirm appointments of Board members of some parastatals awaiting their confirmation.

Enang assured the Lawmakers that the executive officers of the federal government are ready to defend their budget before the committees on appropriations. The SSA however denied reports that President Muhammadu Buhari had declined assent to the highest number of bills since 1999 adding that he has signed highest bills into law from the committed 8th Assembly which in the history of the country has passed highest number of bills.

Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that he also assured that President Buhari in his usual character would not usurp the constitutional powers of the Legislative arm in appointing who becomes principal officers of the 9th Assembly.
