President Buhari Seeks Approval From Senate Over N10.069bn Kogi State Debt Payement

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the National Assembly, seeking approval of promissory notes and bond issuance worth N10.069 billion to Kogi State to offset the inherited debts. President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan who read the letter at plenary stated that the fund is for the state as reimbursement for projects executed on behalf of the Federal Government by the state.

 

The President said it was the decision the Federal Executive Council FEC, to seek the approval of the Senate in fulfillment of the Fiscal Responsibility Act. Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that this fund if approved by the National Assembly, will bring to 25, the number of states with outstanding claims for projects executed on behalf of the Federal Government and approved by the Senate.
