Onyekachi ‘Kachi’ Nnochiri was born in the early 80’s in Lagos, Nigeria. A Theatre Arts graduate of The University of Lagos, an avid lover of the Arts, movie buff and video game connoisseur, ‘Kachi’ as he is fondly called reads the news on Classic Fm 97.3 at 6am, 9.15am, 11.15am and 1.15pm every week day.
An all rounder of some sorts, he’s been a stage actor for many years, a television presenter, a screen actor and a model. His foray into radio broadcasting began in 2010. Prior to this he was second runner up in the ‘Amstel Malta Box Office’ season 3 popularly known as AMBO 3. He grew up watching the greats on ‘NTA’ news. People like Ruth Benamesia-Opia, Yinka Craig, Cyril Stober, and Frank Olize among others. He is also a great admirer of the legendary Walter Cronkite, Skynews’ Eamonn Holmes, and CNN’s Isha Sesay. Kachi hopes to one day be as famous as his News idols.
The last of three kids and the only one resident in Nigeria, Kachi describes the lowest point of his life as when he lost his dad in 2010... a man he describes as his biggest fan. The highest point…? Well, he’s had many high points in his career and he says the best is yet to come.
With his characteristic look, Kachi describes himself as an eclectic individual and believes the strength of any human being lies in their individuality. He is also a believer in living and letting others live.
