Saraki Calls For Nass Invasion Investigation, Says Perpetrators Are Cowards

The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki has called for thorough investigation into the invasion of the National Assembly on Aug. 7 by the Department of State Security Services operatives (DSS). The Senate President who made the call while addressing a World Press Conference in Abuja said to forestall a recurrence, an investigation should be carried out and perpetrators prosecuted.

 

Saraki who commended the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for handling the situation the way he did, added that the DSS cannot be recklessly deployed against institutions of democracy. The Senate President also described as an act of cowardice an attempt by some All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers to execute an illegal impeachment of the leadership of the Senate without the backing of the law, adding that he will not yield to calls for him to leave his post..

 

He urged government to ensure that security agencies remained neutral and act in line with the position of the constitution as well as their enabling laws.
