Senate To Appeal Court Judgement Nullifying Sen. Ali Ndume’s Suspension

The senate says it will on Monday appeal a Federal High Court judgment that declared the suspension of Senator Ali Ndume (representing Borno South Senatorial District) as illegal. Justice Babatunde Quadri, of the federal High court in Abuja on Friday, who had nullified the suspension of the former Majority Leader, Sen. Ndume, said the suspension was an exhibition of lawlessness on the part of the Senate.

The judge particularly ordered Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Senate to ensure prompt payment of Sen. Ndume’s salaries and allowances. However, Chief Counsel/ Head of Chambers, Chief Mike Ozekhome, declaring the position of the senate in a statement on Sunday stated that “It is important to state clearly, that the Senate respectfully disagrees with the said judgment. He pointed out, that “the Plaintiff wrongly joined several causes of action in his Originating Summons.

Our correspondent, Raliat adenekan reports that Sen. Ndume during the weekend told newsmen in Abuja, that he was glad with the judgment, adding that the Clerk to the Senate had written to him to notify him of his resumption on Wednesday 15th 2017.
