Senate To investigate arrest of Innoson Boss...

...President Buhari request Senate Confirmation of 10 INEC Commisioners

The Senate today résolved to investigate the arrest of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Innoson Group, Innocent Chukwuma, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This followed point of order 42 and 52 cited by Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu who questioned how a commercial transaction between a client and his bank led to the involvement of the EFCC.

Our correspondent Raliat Adenekan reports that other lawmakers who also jointly condemned the arrest, called for the immediate release of ‎the Innoson boss. President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, while sustaining the voice votes referred the matter to Senate committee on Anti-corruption and Financial Crimes to investigate the matter and report back within two days‎.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari, has asked the Senate to confirm 10 nominees as commissioners of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Buhari's request was contained in a letter read by President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, today in plenary. Mr president urged the lawmakers to expeditiously ‎consider and approve the nominations‎.
