9th Senate Passes 58 Bills In 2 Years

As the 9th National Assembly marks two years since its inauguration, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan revealed that it has so far passed a total of 58 Bills out of the 742 bills introduced.

 

The Senate President who made this known today at a special session to mark the second anniversary of the 9th Senate, said that 355 bills have passed First reading, 175 (Second Reading) and before relevant committees while 11 passed and referred to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

 

Senator Lawan promised that the controversial Petroleum Industry Bill will be passed before the end of June after about 20 years of failed attempts, adding that the upper chamber would commit itself to pass the Electoral Reform bill before the annual summer recess in July.

Meanwhile, the Upper Chamber has adjourned legislative activities for two weeks to resume on June 22, 2021.
