Federal Government Set to Increase Border Security

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to support the Nigerian Immigration Service to ensure increased close border security at all Nigerian borders.

 

The Minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who made the disclosure at the pulling out ceremony of the 16th outgoing Controller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) CG Mohammed Babandede (Rtd) today in Abuja commended the outgoing CG, noting that during the cause of the CGs term he developed a Nigeria visa policy and implemented a border management manual.

 

In his remarks, the outgoing CG Mohammed Babandede (Rtd) said that the one-year extension granted him had allowed him to complete his flagship project in the service, the Technology Building, among several others. He said the NIS is almost set to launch the one global visa which makes Nigeria visa processing more efficient and transparent, adding that with the establishment of Interpol platform, NIS has been able to upload over 150,000 stolen and lost passport documents to the database.
