Nigerian Army Is At War, Needs Wartime Budget - Sen Ndume

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Ali Ndume has again called for an improved budgetary allocation to the Nigerian Army, noting that the nation’s fighting forces need all the money they can get to flush out the terrorists.

After presenting the report of his committee to the Senate Committee on Appropriations led by Senator Barau Jibrin, today in Abuja, Senator Ndume says the military needs more funding and equipment to effectively combat the raging insecurity in Nigeria, adding that under-funding of the military is responsible for the persistent insecurity challenges in the country.

Recall that the Nigerian Army had also expressed displeasure over the reduction of its budget size from N710 billion it proposed to N579billion approved by the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning for the 2022 fiscal year, while calling on the Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning to exempt it from envelope budgeting.
