Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has issued a strong warning to political actors planning to rig the 2027 governorship election, stating that only the will of God and the people will determine the outcome.
Speaking during the October edition of Alex Otti Speaks to Abians at the Government House in Umuahia, the governor said he welcomes fair competition but cautioned against electoral manipulation.
“I’ve heard some people saying they must take over the state and write results. My advice is that if they want to write anything, it should be something else because there will be consequences,” Otti said in a video shared by Channels Television.
He was responding to a question about recent comments by Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, who claimed the APC would take over Abia in 2027.
Otti, who ended the PDP’s 24-year rule in the state with his 2023 victory under the Labour Party, said any attempt to undermine the democratic process would be firmly resisted.
