The Federal High Court Sitting in Abuja has granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) permission to arrest the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, preparatory to his arraignment today Thursday.
Justice Emeka Nwite granted the warrant this afternoon at the instance of the EFCC.
Officials of the anti-graft Commission had since 9am today, laid siege to the residence of former Kogi Governor, located at Wuse Zone 4 of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, for yet-to-be-disclosed reasons.
In an awkward twist, the EFCC has been restrained by a Lokoja High Court from arresting, detaining and prosecuting the immediate past Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yayaha Bello.
Justice I. A Jami of court 4, gave the definite order in a two-hour judgment delivered on Wednesday, as the former Governor sought to enforce his fundamental rights against the EFCC.
