AFG Aviation Ireland has confirmed the successful lease of two Bombardier CRJ1000 regional jets to Cally Air, the state-backed airline of Cross River State, Nigeria. The aircraft, recently acquired from Regional One, were leased under a finance agreement as part of Cally Air’s fleet expansion.
The jets will be operated by ValueJet under a sublease, using its Air Operator Certificate to manage daily operations. This follows a recent deal where Akwa Ibom State handed the aircraft to ValueJet in partnership.
AFG CEO Christian Nuehlen said the lease marks a key milestone in expanding both AFG’s African presence and Cally Air’s regional connectivity. AFG says the deal supports Cally Air’s ambitions to become a major regional carrier and boost trade, tourism, and economic development in West Africa.
