The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers and recovered two vehicles allegedly stolen by the gang.
In a statement issued on Monday in Awka, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspects were captured by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) based in Awkuzu. The arrest took place on May 30 in Agukwu-Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area.
According to Ikenga, the operation was based on intelligence gathered from another robbery suspect already in police custody.
The arrested individuals were identified as Monday Onoja, Sanusi Muhammed, and Kenneth Nwokpu—all males aged between 27 and 32.
Among the items recovered were a white Mercedes Benz C300 4MATIC with registration number KWC 140, an ash-colored Lexus 350 with registration number 669 CY, two high-end mobile phones, and a pump-action rifle.
Ikenga noted that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal group who remain at large. He also urged the public to assist by providing credible information to aid police efforts in combating crime.
“This arrest demonstrates our continued commitment to curbing criminal activities across the state,” Ikenga added.
