APC North-Central Rejects Move to Drop Shettima

The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum has strongly opposed any move to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement issued in Abuja, the forum warned that altering the current ticket would be a serious political error capable of weakening the ruling party’s electoral strength.

Reacting to speculation triggered by Shettima’s omission from a recent APC banner in the North-East, the forum said abandoning the Muslim-Muslim ticket would cost the party votes rather than attract new support.

It dismissed calls for a Christian running mate from the North, insisting such a move would only embolden the opposition and reduce Tinubu’s chances of re-election.

The forum urged the President to retain Shettima, stressing that maintaining the status quo remains the safest political strategy for 2027.
