Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a 29-year-old news anchor with ARISE Television, was tragically killed during an armed robbery at her home in Katampe, Abuja, in the early hours of yesterday.
Fondly known as “Sommie,” Maduagwu was a respected journalist and trained lawyer, remembered for her vibrant presence on air and strong connection with viewers. ARISE News expressed deep sorrow over her death, calling for a swift investigation and justice.
The Nigeria Police have launched a full investigation, with FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, deploying tactical and forensic teams to the case. Maduagwu, who lived alone in Abuja, was originally from Port Harcourt, where her family resides.
