On Tuesday, the Benue State House of Assembly reinstated six out of the 13 lawmakers it suspended nearly three months ago.
The six members were recalled during plenary after they submitted formal letters of apology and appealed for reinstatement. Their suspension had stemmed from a press conference they held in opposition to a House resolution recommending the suspension of Chief Judge Maurice Ikpambese.
Majority Leader Saater Tiseer presented the apology letters on the floor of the House. Speaker Hyacinth Dajoh confirmed the recall, stating the decision came after deliberation by the lawmakers.
He emphasized that the remaining seven members would remain suspended until they also submit written apologies. The House previously criticized the group’s public dissent as improper, noting they had all initially supported the resolution against the Chief Judge.
