The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced a substantial 40% increase in prize money for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, in Cote d’Ivoire.
Ahead of the competition which runs from January 13th to February 11 in Ivory Coast, CAF took to its website to release a statement about prize money of USD 7,000,000.
According to the report, for the runner-up, the reward has also witnessed an increase, with USD 4,000,000 set aside while the semifinalists will get USD 2,5000,000.
Teams that qualified for the quarterfinal are also not left out, with USD 1,300,000 for each of them
