Winger Quenda, 17, is set to join Chelsea for a fee of up to £44 million, as confirmed by an announcement on the Sporting website. However, he will remain in Lisbon until the end of the 2025-26 season. The young talent has made a notable impact at Sporting, breaking into the first team this season and even making his Champions League debut in September.
In addition, 20-year-old defensive midfielder Essugo will move to Stamford Bridge in the summer following a loan spell at Las Palmas. Sporting has confirmed an £18.4 million transfer fee for him. Essugo has impressed in Spain, although he has also accumulated two red cards in his last four matches.
While Chelsea fans will have to wait to see Quenda in action, Essugo may join Enzo Maresca’s squad for the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in the United States this summer. These two players are part of Chelsea’s ongoing efforts to sign young talent, with the club already securing deals for two other 17-year-olds this summer.
