Clint Hill, the former Secret Service agent who bravely attempted to shield President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy during the assassination on Nov. 22, 1963, passed away on Feb. 21 at the age of 93.
His wife, Lisa McCubbin Hill, confirmed his passing on Feb. 24, describing him as “humble, selfless, confident, and brave,” adding that he “knew history because he lived it.”

Assigned to Jackie Kennedy’s security detail in 1960, Hill was in the Dallas motorcade that fateful day. When the first shots were fired, he immediately ran toward the presidential limousine, leaping onto the vehicle in an effort to protect the Kennedys.
In his book My Travels with Mrs. Kennedy, Hill revealed the deep guilt he carried after the assassination, admitting he was so devastated that he considered suicide. The following month, in December 1963, he traveled to Palm Beach, Fla., to accompany the grieving first lady and her children, Caroline and John, as they visited the Kennedy family.
