The Department of State Services (DSS) has clarified its presence at the Lagos State House of Assembly, stating that lawmakers invited its operatives for security. Amid concerns over the security deployment, the DSS emphasized it did not storm the Assembly but responded to a formal request from the lawmakers.
According to the DSS, the Assembly’s letter, dated February 14, 2025, cited credible threats, including plans to forcefully reinstate the impeached Speaker on February 18, posing a security risk. In response, the DSS deployed personnel to safeguard the Assembly and its members.
The agency reassured the public that its involvement was solely to maintain order as requested by the lawmakers.
