The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned against plans by sections of the organised labour to stage protests between 27th and 28th February, 2024 in parts of the country over sundry economic issues.
According to a statement by its Director, PR & Strategic Communications, Peter Afunanya, while the Service recognises such action as the legitimate right of the labour movement, it, however, called on parties to pursue dialogue and negotiation rather than engaging in conducts which could heighten tensions.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress has faulted the DSS appeal to avoid the planned protest insisting that there is no going back.
The Labour Union in a reaction statement signed by its president Joe Ajaero noted that “the Service has assigned to itself, the new role of the chief spokesperson of the government” which is deeply concerning.
