Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former South African President Jacob Zuma, has pleaded not guilty to charges of inciting violence during the deadly 2021 riots.
The unrest broke out after Zuma’s arrest for defying a court order tied to a corruption inquiry and quickly escalated into widespread looting and violence that claimed over 350 lives. Zuma-Sambudla faces allegations that she encouraged violent acts through social media posts during that period.
Her trial began on Monday at the High Court in Durban, where prosecutors presented evidence linking her online activity to the unrest. Jacob Zuma himself was present in court to support his daughter.
