The European Union has supported Nigeria and five other Sahel countries affected by flood with 5.4 million Euros.
The bloc, in a statement by its Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, noted that the 5.4 million Euros is to assist the more than 4.4 million people estimated to be affected by flood in the countries.
A breakdown of the sum shows that Nigeria gets 1.1 million Euro; which is expected to provide immediate aid and respond to the most urgent needs concerning shelter, access to clean water and sanitation, and other essential services in the hardest-hit areas.
