The Federal Government has rejected claims that terrorists in Nigeria are conducting a systematic genocide against Christians.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described such allegations as false, baseless, divisive, and misleading.
In a statement released Sunday, Idris emphasized that Nigeria’s security challenges affect all citizens, regardless of religion, and urged that portraying the violence as targeting one religious group oversimplifies a complex situation.
He said terrorists attack people of all faiths, including Muslims, Christians, and those without religious affiliation.
Idris further rejected the genocide narrative, saying it misrepresents Nigeria’s multi-religious reality and affirming that Christians face neither endangerment nor marginalisation.
