The Federal Government made about N2.4 billion from Nigerians who used its marriage registry in 2024.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who revealed this, said over ₦6 billion was generated in 2024 from expatriate quota fees, marriages, citizenship applications, and places of worship, more than 50% increase compared to 2023.
He also highlighted innovations in visa processing, including the establishment of a Visa Approval Center in Abuja and the integration of Interpol’s database for applicant profiling.
Tunji-Ojo further revealed that at least 180 disciplinary cases were resolved across various services in 2024. He added that workforce development efforts led to the promotion of 32,640 officers in 2023, followed by 20,851 promotions in 2024.
