According to the former president, WESTERN DEMOCRACY as it is being practiced in Nigeria and other African countries, should be re-examined or moderated; as it has not delivered on good governance and progressive development for the continent.

While delivering a keynote address at an event held at the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential Library, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, the former President asserted that the Western style of democracy failed in Africa because it does not take into cognizance the views of the majority of the people.

According to him, African countries have no business operating a system of government which they did not have hands in its “definition and design”.
