Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager, and his wife, Cristina Serra, have decided to end their 30-year relationship. Reports from El Periodico on Monday indicate that the separation is amicable, described as friendly and stable.
The couple, who first met in 1994 and married in 2014 near Barcelona, have reportedly drifted apart, particularly due to Guardiola’s managerial roles abroad over the past five years.
They have three children: Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17. While Serra, a Brazilian journalist, resides in Barcelona with their youngest daughter, Guardiola stays in Manchester. The family spent Christmas together.
The decision to divorce was made in December, with only close friends and family aware. The couple has requested privacy regarding the details.
Serra moved to Manchester in 2019 to focus on fashion with her family business, Serra Claret.
Although there had been speculation about Guardiola leaving Manchester City, he signed a two-year contract extension in November, keeping him with the club until 2027.
Guardiola is now focusing on Manchester City’s upcoming match against Brentford, as they sit sixth in the Premier League standings.
