Hosts Côte d’Ivoire clinch third AFCON title after comeback win over Nigeria

Sports

Super Eagles lost 2-1 to hosts Ivory Coast in a thrilling Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final match at the Alassane Ouattara Olympic Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.

The Ivorian’s came from behind, being a goal down in the first hal, but scored two goals in the second half for victory.

Ivory Coast’s success sees them add this year’s title to those claimed in 1992 and 2015, while this win also allows them to join Nigeria on three Cup of Nations triumphs overall.
