Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the immediate withdrawal of such personnel from unauthorised deployments, including escort and guard duties for private individuals and VIP’s. 

The IGP expressed concern over the diversion of Police Mobile Force personnel to non-core duties, noting that it was established as the Nigeria Police Force’s “elite strike unit, designed to respond swiftly to riots, emergencies, and violent threats.”

According to a statement yesterday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the move is to bolster internal security, enhance operational readiness and reposition the Police Mobile Force in alignment with its original mandate.
