The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) , has urged potential voters to endeavor to collect their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, personally from Thursday 22nd of August from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily including the weekend, in Edo State ahead of the September 21 Governorship Election.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu who made the announcement in Abuja today, during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners, RECs, stressed that only registered voters would be allowed to collect their PVCs as it will not be delivered by proxy.
He added that the softcopy of the final and comprehensive register of voters will be presented to each political party fielding candidates in the election on Tuesday the 20th of this month at the INEC State office in Benin City, Edo State.
The INEC boss further announced that 119,206 new voters were registered; 8,847 voters transferred their registration from other states to Edo; while 46,171 voters transferred their registration from one part of the state to another.
According to Prof. Yakubu, the Commission is working on the schedule for the collection of PVCs in Ondo State.
