The Vice President of the Federal republic Nigeria Sen. Kashim Shettima has called on various leaders in Nigeria including religious leaders and stakeholders from around the world to as a matter of urgency strategize on ending female Genital Mutilation FGM by 2030.
The Vice President who was represented by Miss Uju Rochas, Special Assistant to the President in Public Health Office in Abuja, emphasized the need for more community engagement as the President Tinubu led administration is ensuring that Female Genital Mutilation is tackled through establishment of health care centres in various communities.
Earlier, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria Mohammed Malick Fall had noted that there are over 20 Million survivors of Female Genital Mutilation in Nigeria resulting from conflicts, poor orientation amongst others.
