Kathie Lee Gifford recently reflected on a deeply meaningful day that marks both remembrance and celebration in her life.
On Saturday, August 9, the former television host shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing joy for a close friend’s birthday and honoring the memory of her late husband, Frank, who passed away a decade ago.
“Today is a day for rejoicing!” she began in her post. She first celebrated the birthday of a dear friend, calling her “one of the most remarkable souls I’ve ever known,” and expressed her hopes that all of her friend’s dreams would come true.
Turning to her late husband, she spoke about why she chooses to find peace on the anniversary of his passing, emphasizing the comfort her Christian faith brings her.
“Ten years ago today, my beloved Frank went home to Jesus. He has been resting in peace and joy ever since, and that brings me comfort,” she wrote. “So today, I’m filled with gratitude for how the Lord watches over those who belong to Him.”
Kathie concluded her message by sending blessings to others, hoping they, too, would find peace—“Shalom”—in their own lives.
The post included a photo of her embracing her longtime friend in a familiar New York City location where they once shared many moments during their time on morning television together.
Frank, who had a successful career in professional football before becoming a respected broadcaster and actor, passed away in 2015 just shy of his 85th birthday. He and Kathie Lee had two children, Cody and Cassidy. In 2020, both children were married, and Kathie Lee shared that she felt Frank’s presence during their weddings.
