On July 7, 2005, four suicide bombers attacked London’s transit system, killing 52 people and injuring nearly 800.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the tragedy, King Charles released a statement on Monday honoring the victims and those affected.

“My heartfelt thoughts and special prayers remain with all those whose lives were forever changed on that terrible summer’s day,” he said, emphasizing the need for unity and resilience in the face of division.
The King mourned the “52 innocent people who were killed in senseless acts of evil” and acknowledged the ongoing pain of their loved ones.
He also recognized the hundreds who continue to suffer from physical and emotional wounds, expressing hope for their healing.
Finally, Charles paid tribute to those who showed “extraordinary courage and compassion” in the midst of the tragedy’s darkness.
