Leaders of the Labour Party yesterday marched to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, to ask for the recognition of Nenadi Usman as their National Chairman.
The Labour Party’s leaders led by Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, say Julius Abure’s election as chairman wasn’t legitimate, nor did the election follow the party’s rules, while also restating the Supreme Court’s judgment which set aside the Court of Appeal ruling recognising Julius Abure as Labour Party’s National Chairman.
Meanwhile, at a press conference yesterday in Abuja, Lamidi Apapa said he has taken over the leadership of the Labour Party following the Supreme Court judgement that sacked Julius Abure as its national chairman.
Apapa also announced that the National Working Committee of the party as of 2022 will meet next week, Monday, 14th April 2025.
