The Organised Labour has reiterated its May 31, 2024 ultimatum to the Federal Government to meet all of its demands, which includes implementation of a new national minimum wage and reversal of the hike in electricity tariff.
The position was contained in a communique issued at the end of a joint emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Abuja, where it says it had thoroughly deliberated on the issue and considered the current realities as they affects Nigerian workers and masses.
Labour noted that its joint Executive Council appreciated the efforts made thus far, but emphasised the urgency of reaching a fair and equitable agreement.
The Vice President of the Trade Union Congress, Mr Etim Okon, had earlier confirmed that Organised Labour had agreed to attend the “negotiation” meeting of the Tripartite Committee on the Minimum Wage with the Federal Government slated for today Tuesday.
