The Lagos State Government has warned against the extortion of Motorists by MISCREANTS parading themselves as enforcement officers.
Permanent Secretary, at the Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa gave the warning while addressing Journalists after the arrest of eleven fake enforcement officers who daily extort money from unsuspecting Motorists at Ibeju-Lekki junction and Akodo area of the State.
He said it is illegal for any Local Government to embark on such act of extortion, citing the Lagos State Road Traffic Law, Section Eighteen, 2018 – which empowers only the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA to carry out enforcement on the roads.
