The Lagos State Government has signed three strategic Memoranda of Understanding with private investors to boost recycling of plastic waste and end-of-life tyres. This initiative is part of the state’s ongoing waste-to-wealth agenda aimed at promoting sustainable environmental practices.

The agreements were signed during the 11th Lagos International Climate Change Summit, signaling a shift from conventional waste disposal methods to a circular economy approach. The summit hosted sessions with global experts, culminating in the high-profile MoU signings. The move is expected to significantly reduce waste volumes destined for landfills across Lagos State.
Mr. Kunle Adeshina, the Director of Public Affairs, described the step as a clear demonstration of Lagos’s dedication to advanced waste conversion. Meanwhile, Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, reiterated the state’s commitment to turning waste into economic opportunities.
