‎Lagride Deploys New Vehicles Under $100m UBA-Backed Drive To Own Scheme

‎Lagride has deployed a new set of brand new vehicles under its Drive To Own programme, marking a major step in its vehicle ownership expansion plan.

‎Lagride said the initiative is designed to create a structured pathway from professional driving to long-term vehicle ownership for captains.

‎The programme is backed by a 100 million dollar facility from United Bank for Africa, aimed at supporting responsible scaling and governance.

‎Lagride has set a target of deploying three thousand five hundred vehicles as the scheme expands.

‎The partnership was launched in December by Lagride Chairman, Diana Chen, and UBA’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba.

‎Executive Director of Lagride, Mildred Ekanem, said the deployment reflects the company’s commitment to building sustainable livelihoods while improving service standards across Lagos.

‎She explained that eligibility for the scheme is based on measurable performance indicators, including safety, compliance, ride completion rates, and customer feedback.

‎UBA described the partnership as a practical example of enterprise finance enabling asset ownership through structured and trackable performance.

‎Head of Business Banking at UBA, Babatunde Ajayi, said the facility demonstrates confidence in a model that combines governance, performance data, and accountability.

‎A beneficiary of the programme, Aminu Ganna, described the vehicle handover as a turning point and proof that consistent work can lead to ownership.

‎The deployment event brought together captains, bank representatives, and members of the media, with Lagride reaffirming that continued participation in the scheme will remain strictly performance-based.
