Lagride has deployed a new set of brand new vehicles under its Drive To Own programme, marking a major step in its vehicle ownership expansion plan.
Lagride said the initiative is designed to create a structured pathway from professional driving to long-term vehicle ownership for captains.
The programme is backed by a 100 million dollar facility from United Bank for Africa, aimed at supporting responsible scaling and governance.
Lagride has set a target of deploying three thousand five hundred vehicles as the scheme expands.
The partnership was launched in December by Lagride Chairman, Diana Chen, and UBA’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba.
Executive Director of Lagride, Mildred Ekanem, said the deployment reflects the company’s commitment to building sustainable livelihoods while improving service standards across Lagos.
She explained that eligibility for the scheme is based on measurable performance indicators, including safety, compliance, ride completion rates, and customer feedback.
UBA described the partnership as a practical example of enterprise finance enabling asset ownership through structured and trackable performance.
Head of Business Banking at UBA, Babatunde Ajayi, said the facility demonstrates confidence in a model that combines governance, performance data, and accountability.
A beneficiary of the programme, Aminu Ganna, described the vehicle handover as a turning point and proof that consistent work can lead to ownership.
The deployment event brought together captains, bank representatives, and members of the media, with Lagride reaffirming that continued participation in the scheme will remain strictly performance-based.
