Labour Party Rules Out Automatic Ticket for Obi in 2027

The Labour Party stated that no aspirant, including Peter Obi, would receive an automatic ticket for the 2027 elections. It was emphasised that all candidates must emerge through competitive primaries. The leadership noted Obi’s year-long distance from the party but said reconciliation remained possible.

The NEC meeting was described as focused on congresses and primaries, while ongoing tensions were acknowledged as contributing to uncertainty around Obi’s political direction.
