The Labour Party (LP) has suspended its National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara, for six months.
The party’s spokesman, Obiora Ifoh, who announced this at a conference at the LP national headquarters in Abuja yesterday, alleged that Opara was being sponsored by the same people who used Lamidi Apapa, Anslem Eragbe, and Yomi Arabambi to derail the party.
Opara had, on Monday, challenged LP National Chairman, Julius Abure, at a press conference to account for an alleged N3.5 billion raised from the sale of nomination forms and fundraising activities in the build-up to the 2023 general election.
Ifoh however said contrary to allegations, the party only realized N1.2 billion from donation from members and sales of forms to some aspirants in the 2023 polls.
