The Nigerian Army is set to commemorate its 162nd anniversary with a week-long series of events for the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL).
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, announced at a press briefing held at Army Headquarters in Abuja that this year’s celebration will include civil-military cooperation projects, a golf tournament, medical outreach initiatives, school engagement programmes, and will culminate in a grand finale parade scheduled for July 6 in Kaduna.
The COAS reiterated the Army’s dedication to transforming the force by focusing on soldier welfare and strengthening national security, as he acknowledged the media’s crucial role in shaping public opinion and supporting military efforts.
Since its inception in 1978, NADCEL has also served as a solemn occasion to honour fallen heroes and commemorate the first shot fired in the Nigerian Civil War at Garkem, Cross River State.
