NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION, KANO OFFICE RECEIVES OVER THREE THOUSAND CASES IN 2025

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) say it has received a total of 3,019 human rights complaints in Kano State between January and December 2025.

Kano State Coordinator NHRC, Shehu Abdullahi, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen explaining that 2,276 of the cases have been successfully resolved, while 743 are currently undergoing investigation and mediation.

According to the Kano state Coordinator of NHRC noted majority of the complaints centered on child abandonment, violations of child rights, domestic violence, infringement on the right to life, as well as cultural, economic, and social rights issues.

Other reported cases included abuses by law enforcement agencies, sexual and gender-based violence, and neglect of parental responsibilities.

He further revealed that the commission conducted a statewide data collection exercise in 2025 to assess security challenges and the influx of migrants into Kano State.
