Nigeria Crash Out as Morocco, Senegal Reach AFCON Final

Nigeria bowed out of AFCON 2025 on Wednesday night after losing 4–2 on penalties to hosts Morocco in the semi-finals. Morocco dictated the tempo and limited the Super Eagles’ attacking threat, despite Nigeria arriving as one of the tournament’s highest scorers. Stanley Nwabali saved one spot kick, but misses from Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi ended Nigeria’s run.

Earlier, Senegal edged Egypt 2–1 in Tangier to secure the other final spot. The defending champions struck late to seal victory and dash Mohamed Salah’s hopes of a second AFCON title.

Morocco will face Senegal in Sunday’s final at 9:00 pm, while Nigeria meets Egypt in the third-place playoff on Saturday at 6:00 pm. Both matches will air live on SuperSport via DStv and GOtv.
