The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a three-month grace period, starting May 1, 2025, for irregular migrants to regularize their status, after which a nationwide crackdown will commence on August 1, 2025.

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who dislosed this yesterday during a meeting with the Nigerian Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), emphasized the importance of adhering to immigration protocols and urged migrants to take advantage of the grace period to avoid legal consequences.

He further revealed that the Federal Government has introduced a new Expatriate Administration System (EAS), set to take effect on May 1, 2025, and warned companies that obstruct the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) from performing its mandated duties, as such actions would no longer be condoned.
